Biomedical science jobs workers at Dundee University have been involved in a series of new projects aiming to put research to practical use.
The initiative began after the educational establishment was awarded £2 million to develop new medical procedures and therapies through the translation of biomedical investigation results, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reported.
Professor Mike Ferguson, one of those overseeing the project, expressed his and the team's hope that it will be successful and become a regular feature at the institution.
He added: "This is a very exciting opportunity for Dundee University to show its true colours by translating some of its excellent science and technology towards real patient care."
Since the scheme was made public, over 40 research proposals have been submitted from different sectors within the educational establishment.
Dundee University also boasts the uncovering of the p53 cancer gene by Professor Sir David Lane, as well as Sir Alfred Cuschieri's research into keyhole surgery, both of which have impacted research in those fields all over the world.
