Hospital doctor 'pleased' to present new sterilisation procedure

Birmingham Womens' Hospital doctor Justin Clark is one professional who will be talking about a new sterilisation procedure at a congress this weekend.
The Essure method, developed by Conceptus, now has 12 abstracts at European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) from presenters across Europe, including Dr Clark, who will be presenting his abstract called Essure Permanent Birth Control: Worldwide Experience 2000 to 2009 at the annual ESGE Congress of the in Italy the final week of October.
He remarked: "I am very pleased to share my success in treating over 200 patients with this highly effective and safe device," adding his belief that Essure is the "gold standard" in its field.
Dr Clark will be focusing on the effectiveness of the first permanent birth-control method, the positive results carried out during medical research and the 94.6 per cent bilateral placement rate of the product.
Conceptus claims the procedure can be performed in ten minutes and has been adopted by over 9,000 practitioners since its approval by the Food and Drug Administration in 2002.
