Retiring cardiology worker 'will miss his colleagues' commitment'

Dr Howard Robson, a cardiac jobs worker at Carlisle Hospital, is set to retire after 30 years and said he will miss his colleagues' and their commitment to the job.
The doctor told the Cumberland News that he has also always had good relationships with local GPs, many of whom trained at his hospital
"I'll also miss the patients themselves and their amazing strength of character," he remarked, adding that "there are so many people who have just been a joy to work with".
As well as being an honorary lecturer at Newcastle University, Dr Robson has served as a Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh representative and was the first person to sign up to the Cumbrian Run in a bid to promote healthy living.
Despite retiring, the 64-year-old intends to engage in medical work in Uganda together with his wife, as well as visiting Thailand, their son's home.
Other achievers in the region include nurse Denise Douglass from the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, who recently won a British Orthodontic Society award for outstanding work.
