Co-op Pharmacy perseveres

Co-operative Group Pharmacy has been commended for its performance as it continues to do well despite the current economic climate.
A report issued by the Co-operative showed 17 per cent overall profit margins and featured praise for the pharmacies division, the total operating profit of which was up to £14.8 million, an 8.7 per cent increase from last year.
Chief executive of the company Peter Marks commented that Pharmacy had "performed well" in a "challenging" market.
Of the firm's general success, Mr Marks pointed out that it would be "naive" to believe it would not be affected by the economic downturn, but said he and his company were pleased with the performance and can now "look ahead to the future with renewed confidence".
Blackpool pharmacist John Proctor was recently presented with a Pride of the Co-operative award for his outstanding customer service.
The ceremony was inspired by the organisation's recent sponsorship of the Pride of Britain awards and was launched in a pledge to reward exceptional workers within its own company.
