Mersea could see new medical centre

Plans to build a new clinic on Mersea Island have come one step closer to completion.
The proposal states that under the Local Improvement Finance Trust West Mersea GP practice is to merge with Barfield Road Clinic, which provides jobs to physiotherapists and podiatrists, to form an up to date medical establishment.
An unofficial agreement has been made to buy a site for the clinic on Colchester Road.
Realise Health's chief executive Richard Warner commented that "outline heads of terms to purchase the land have been agreed with the landowner".
NHS North East Essex has put the company in charge of building the new practice.
Mr Warner added that there are still steps to be taken before a final agreement can be reached, including liaising with the Highways Authority regarding safe road access.
The new site was selected following the cancellation of previous plans to build on Barfield Road, a more central location.
An existing arrangement was scrapped when the Royal British Legion committee decided not to make its land available for access use to the clinic.
