Radiography equipment praised at awards ceremony

Radiography equipment pioneered by a north-east technology firm was praised during a recent awards ceremony.
At the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year event held in London, boss of Kromek Arnab Basu won the young entrepreneur category, the Journal reports.
His company develops X-ray imaging for a number of markets, including medicine.
Commenting on the achievements of Mr Basu, who graduated from Durham University, Ernst & Young Newcastle's senior partner Mark Hatton said: "He has developed ground-breaking, unique technology for an existing market set to boom.
"The judges were unanimously impressed with the product, which has multiple applications."
Last month, the Guardian revealed that on-duty radiographers from the NHS would be involved in a project being run by the UK Border Agency involving X-ray technology.
The initiative will target airport travellers and is part of a crackdown on drug smuggling being perpetrated by heroin and cocaine runners.
Trials are taking place involving X-ray specialists at Bart's hospital in London.
