A number of new podiatry jobs may be created in Stoke-on-Trent if plans for the development of a medical centre are given the green light.
According to reports in Stoke and Staffordshire paper the Sentinel, the facility would cost £11 million to construct and would be set out over four storeys.
In addition to foot care services, it would house seven GP practices and physiotherapy treatment rooms, among other things.
According to Sandra Jones, project manager at NHS Stoke-on-Trent - which serves a population of approximately 250,000 - the building could be opened as early as the end of 2011.
She added: "We have already taken on board a lot of comments from the community about what they want in the centre. One of the things asked for was a community area, so we are proposing a multi-purpose room."
The building would be situated on the site of the former Kings Arms pub in Meir and it would be open from 08:00 BST until 20:00 BST from Monday to Friday, as well as for a couple of hours on Saturdays.
