Number of audiology clinics in Derbyshire to rise

The number of clinics designed to cater for people with hearing problems is to increase in Derbyshire, it has been revealed.
Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust (PCT) is to up the number of such centres it runs from 17 to 23 in a bid to ensure that people can access them closer to their homes, the Derby Evening Telegraph reports.
Commenting on the move, the organisation's assistant director of commissioning Paul Carney said: "The trust followed an open contracting process to deliver comprehensive audiology services to the people in Derbyshire."
The PCT made its selections concerning the locations for the facilities based on factors such as access and value for money, he added.
Patients will be able to use the centres for hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings and to get general advice.
Established in October 2006, the Derbyshire County PCT serves a population of around 712,000, providing a range of healthcare services.
