The lack of a pharmacy at a new medical centre has led to the formation of a patient group, it has emerged.
The new £7 million facility in Fort William's Camaghael site offers a variety of services, from primary care to social work, according to the Press and Journal.
However, the need for a pharmacy at the centre has prompted a group from the Tweeddale practice to campaign for its provision, following three unsuccessful applications.
The decision by health bosses on the grounds of overprovision was not well-received by some councillors and local patients, who claim this is causing financial strain and inconvenience.
Secretary and member of the organisation Mary Bruce said: "Elderly people and those without their own cars are being particularly affected by having to go into the town centre for prescriptions, which may not always be readily available."
The medical centre is part of NHS Highland, which governs 12,507 square miles of Scotland, representing 41 per cent of the country's land surface and servicing nearly 300,000 people.
