Trust expands cardiac services

A trust based in Southampton is looking to recruit over 75 new members of staff as part of an expansion of its cardiac wards, it has emerged.
New posts have been created for nurses in the cardiac, vascular and high dependency units at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust (SUHT), following the refurbishment of the department.
Matron Juliet Pearce on the cardiovascular and thoracic ward remarked that the new appointments would help to further promote the trust as a centre for excellence within the nursing sector.
"We are looking forward to welcoming a new wave of specialist nurses and a range of other staff members to join us in these exciting times following expansion," she said.
Other additions to the services include six new high dependency beds and a cardiac intensive care bed.
The SUHT provides services to around 500,000 people in the greater Southampton area, specialising in neurosciences, cardiac treatment and children's intensive care.
