A number of new medical jobs could be created in Llandudno following the approval of plans by the health minister to redevelop the hospital in Conwy.
Edwina Hart recently affirmed the £20-£45 million deal, after a campaign was launched to save the building from a facilities down-grade, according to the Daily Post.
Various recommendations for change were made in a 2007 report by Frank Burns, a man with 40 years' NHS experience who spent 16 years as the chief executive of Wirral Hospital NHS Trust.
These included a minor injuries unit and a diagnostic centre for radiographers complete with X-ray screening and testing and both in and out-patient services.
Member of the Llandudno hospital action group Linda Groom said: "It was people power that won this. The public backed us and the campaigning paid off", although she added that the lobbyists would not disband until their plans were carried out.
