Phlebotomy services 'will be retained in medical centre'

Phlebotomy services will be kept at a UK medical centre even if other services are transferred out, a health boss has said.
Maternity provisions at William Julien Courtauld Hospital in Braintree may be moved to St Michael's Day Hospital under plans which initially included provisions for the medical centre to be demolished, the BrainTree and Witham Times reports.
Recently, NHS Mid Essex submitted proposals to retain the building for facilities which would not be accommodated in the new hospital, including blood testing.
Commercial director for the organisation Clare Morris said: "We want to retain the day hospital and are in the early stages of planning what complimentary services might go in there and there are a number of possibilities."
She added that the NHS trust is in discussions with the district council concerning the issue.
Created in October 2006, NHS Mid Essex is responsible for providing healthcare services to a population of around 360,000.
