New equipment praised by radiographer

A medical expert has praised new X-ray equipment which was recently installed in the A&E department at Homerton Hospital.
The medical centre had a Siemens Healthcare's Ysio wi-D direct Digital Radiography system installed, Hospital IT Europe reports.
Commenting on the device, Colin West, head of imaging services at the hospital, said: "The Ysio has allowed us to increase our X-ray capacity by 50 per cent and its wireless detector provides real ease-of-use for our radiographers."
He added that the system's display screen is high quality and means that even the smallest abnormalities are detected.
There is "no doubt" that the installation of the device has resulting in quicker diagnoses for trauma patients brought into the department from A&E, Mr West claimed.
Homerton Hospital is run by the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is was set up five years ago and provides healthcare services to people in Hackney and the City of London.
