A ward in an Isle of Man hospital has been closed down due to hygiene concerns, it has emerged.
Noble's Hospital in Braddan has reported cases of vomiting and diarrhoea in staff and patients on ward one, IOMToday asserts.
The ward has been temporarily closed to new patients as the symptoms of the illness are leading the hospital to believe it is caused by viral gastroenteritis.
As a result, strict hygiene regulations are currently being employed throughout the hospital in an attempt to control the outbreak.
In addition, members of the public who are experiencing similar symptoms are being asked to refrain from visiting until 48 hours after they have stopped experiencing the sickness.
The hospital has advised that people maintain good hygiene, particularly if they experience vomiting and diarrhoea, with measures such as thorough washing of hands and bleaching areas that have been contaminated.
Noble's Hospital is set in the Manx countryside, with 20 wards areas and 314 beds in total.
