Audiologists begin work in newly refurbished medical centre

Audiologists are set to benefit from a new medical centre in Hebburn, Shields.
The newly refurbished health facility was upgraded thanks to £1.8 million worth of funding from the South Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT), the Shields Gazette reports.
Improvements to the internal layout of the 1960s building, including a larger waiting area, a new reception and increased disabled access, have been made.
Services including an audiology department and a family planning clinic will once again be made available on the site.
Commenting on the change to the centre, Stephen Clark, chairman of South Tyneside PCT, said: "The scope of the refurbishment work carried out at Hebburn Health Centre has been extensive and the result is the provision of a first-class modern environment for the delivery of healthcare services to the Hebburn community."
The South Tyneside PCT comes under the banner of NHS South of Tyne and Wear, which provides healthcare services to the region, including districts nursing, palliative care, community audiology and school nursing, among other services.
