Refer an Audiologist
Friday 31st July 2009
Hearing loss affects a network of people, not just suffers themselves, an audiologist has said.
Commenting on the issue, Andy Kellett, hearing aid audiologist for the Hearing Company, said that hearing is very important and when people ignore problems with it, it is not only they that suffer, the Cambridge Evening News reports.
He commented: "Friends and families often bring loved ones for hearing tests because it's affecting them on a daily basis."
While some people do not want help at the beginning, they often realise the improved quality of life they can have if they address their hearing problems, he added.
The medical expert went on to say that people's needs concerning hearing differ in accordance with their lifestyles.
For example, some people just want to be able to hear the TV better or hear their doorbells and telephones.
Recently, Peterborough Today reported that a Specsavers branch in Peterborough is involved in an initiative to find a local hero who has overcome hearing loss to achieve success.
