Audiologist involved in project to find local hero

An audiologist in Peterborough is involved in an initiative to find a local hero who has overcome hearing loss to achieve success.
According to reports in Peterborough Today, the city's Specsavers branch is encouraging people living in the surrounding area to enter its first Specsavers Sound Barrier Star Awards.
Commenting on the project, hearing aid audiologist Bill Richards said: "We want to recognise the positive things people with hearing loss can achieve.
"We will also be offering free hearing tests to encourage residents to get their hearing checked at the same time."
The awards are designed to reward ordinary people for their courage and achievements despite having impaired hearing.
For each entry received by Specsavers, the firm is to donate £5 to the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Established in 1982, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to certain sounds in a variety of places, including workplaces, homes and public buildings.
