Work to begin on new medical centre in Wales

Work is set to begin on a new health centre in Wales, a politician has revealed.
Health minister Edwina Hart announced that the £22 million Emergency Care Centre will be created at the Prince Charles Hospital, which is situated in Merthyr Tydfil, Mid Glamorgan.
Described as "state-of-the-art", the development is intended to speed up treatment for patients and to improve the emergency care environment.
Radiographers are to be among the medical professionals working in the centre when it opens, with an MRI scanner set to feature among the equipment housed in the facility.
Commenting on the development, Ms Hart said: "The new Emergency Care Centre will provide more space for staff and patients, enhance services for patients and help to reduce waiting times and improve privacy and dignity of patients."
She added that the creation of the new facility will complement other recent investments in the hospital.
Created in 1978, Prince Charles Hospital has 438 beds and provides a range of medical services.
