Hospital gets full marks for hygiene

A hospital has been praised for its standards of hygiene following a recent inspection.
Colchester General Hospital was given full marks for its levels of cleanliness by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The regulator found no areas for concern during its examination of the facility.
In a report, it said: "On inspection, we found no evidence that the trust has breached the regulations to protect patients, workers and others from the risk of acquiring a healthcare-associated infection."
Responding to the outcome, Denise Hagel, director of nursing and patient experience and deputy chief executive of the medical centre, said it shows that many steps have been taken to prevent and control infections.
She added personnel at Colchester General Hospital believe that the "absolute target" should be to eliminate the transmission of healthcare-acquired infections altogether.
The independent regulator of health and social care in England, the CQC aims to make sure that better care is provided to everyone.
