Pharmacists are in a good position to roll out new community services, a politician has said.
According to Liberal Democrat shadow health secretary Norman Lamb, such medical professionals are "well placed" to respond to government proposals to introduce the extra offerings, Healthcare Republic reports.
Making his comments after a visit to a pharmacy in north Norfolk, he said: "Community pharmacy is an increasingly important resource in advancing primary care services in the UK.
"I was impressed by the enthusiasm and passion of the staff that I met and the invaluable role they play within the community."
Mr Lamb had spoken to owners of the business Lyndon and Dee Whyatt, as well as pharmacist Anne Smith and superintendent pharmacist Emma Saunders.
Last month, Mike Maguire from Marton Pharmacy was named Community Pharmacist of the Year at the Chemist and Druggist Awards, GazetteLive reported.
He described being bestowed with the title as "fantastic".
