A dietician has joined a campaign to get people to pay more attention to the amounts of salt and sugar than are in their food.
Claire Holmes, who works for the Western Trust, was in a Tesco store explaining the "traffic light" system of food labelling.
She said she wants to raise awareness among shoppers about how to read the food labels on items they buy, the Derry Journal reports.
Ms Holmes said: "To do this we're holding supermarket stops in each council area through the summer. In the winter we'll be holding some workshops and running sessions with catering students."
The medical expert added that while people are often concerned about the amount of additives in their food, it is in fact high levels of salt and sugar that are the "population killers".
Last month, fellow dietician Dr Carrie Ruxton issued a vitamin D warning.
She said that only one in four people are eating enough foods rich in the substance, the Daily Mail reported.
