Podiatrists involved in scheme to help older patients

A number of people with jobs in podiatry are involved in an initiative to help older people living in Worcestershire.
Working in partnership with Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, Age Concern Herefordshire & Worcestershire is organising a basic foot care scheme for older people living in the county, the Berrows Journal reports.
In order to make the project work, volunteers are needed. They receive practical and theoretical training in foot care.
The training will be conducted by a senior podiatrist from the primary care trust.
Among the clinics currently involved in the scheme are those in Malvern, Worcester, Droitwich and Evesham.
Age concern hopes to extend the service into other areas in the county.
Worcestershire Primary Care Trust provides services to around 553,000 people and has an annual budget of more than £800 million.
It has responsibility over a number of medical centres, including 67 GP practices and 88 optician premises.
