Tuesday 9th June 2009
A radiographer has been honoured at an awards ceremony designed to recognise long service.
More than 200 members of staff from hospitals across Buckinghamshire congregated for the event, which was organised by Buckinghamshire Hospital NHS Trust.
The accolades were distributed to medical professionals who had served for more 30 years.
Among those in the limelight was Ann Lawrence, a radiographer at Amersham Hospital.
Commenting on her career, she said: "I qualified as a radiographer in 1959 and started working for Buckinghamshire hospitals in 1972. When I started, the sessional rate was just £2.83 - times have certainly changed."
She received an engraved glass plaque and a pin denoting her length of service.
Staff were also invited to view an exhibition of memories and anecdotes provided by colleagues throughout the trust.
Buckinghamshire Hospital NHS Trust runs three hospital sites in Amersham, Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe and it employs a total of around 4,500 workers.
