Register as an Dietitian
Thursday 28th May 2009
A dietician is to work in a new medical centre in the north of Scotland, it has emerged.
The North of Scotland Eden Unit at the Royal Cornhill Hospital in Aberdeen was recently opened by public health minister Shona Robison.
Designed to provide treatment to up to ten patients at a time, the facility has been set up in order to improve access to care for people living with an eating disorder in the surrounding area.
It will mean that such people will be able to receive treatment as inpatients at an NHS unit instead of being referred to a private centre.
The facility is being funded by NHS Grampian, which provides services to a population of half-a-million spread over 3,000 square miles.
Commenting on the new offering, Ms Robison said: "With individually tailored care by dedicated staff, in a safe and therapeutic environment, I have no doubt that it will make a real difference."
