Refer an Speech and Language Therapist
Wednesday 20th May 2009
A minister recently quit his role at a church in Scotland in order to embark on a career as a speech and language therapist, describing the discipline as "worthwhile".
According to reports in the East Lothian Courier, Rev Eric Foggitt - who led the Dunbar Parish Church for over eight years - performed his last service in April.
Commenting on his decision to change career, the 53-year-old said he had been working part-time in speech therapy for six years and he wanted to devote more time to it.
He added: "The work is very valuable and very interesting and I'm glad that I'm leaving to do something like this, which is so worthwhile."
Mr Foggitt, who came to the UK from France to study at the age of 18, has relocated with his family to Edinburgh to begin his role as team leader for a speech and language service at Roodlands Hospital, which is run by NHS Lothian.
