Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Monday 18th May 2009
A new cardiac unit which is designed to improve the quality of life for heart attack victims has opened.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit was spearheaded by local councillor Gerry O'Donnell, the Evesham Journal reports.
It has been partly funded by the Evesham Market Town Partnership and Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, which employs more than 2,500 members of staff and has an annual budget of over £750 million.
The unit opened at the Evesham Rowing Club last week.
Commenting on the development, David Noyes, chairman of the Market Town Partnership, said: "This will be a terrific asset and another valuable local service. The work it does will have a direct impact on people's lives."
Recently, a new mobile cardiac screening service which is intended to reduce the number of people who experience sudden deaths due to heart problems was launched in Durham.
Medical staff are touring in a mobile trailer and are examining people aged 14 to 35.
