Investment made in biomedical science

New investments are to be made in UK biomedical science, it has been revealed.
The Babraham Institute has announced that it is to create a state-of-the-art genome sequencing facility following an investment from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council and the Medical Research Council (MRC), in partnership with the University of Cambridge's Centre for Trophoblast Research.
The facility will enable researchers to analyse the genome for insights more quickly and cheaply.
It is to operate as a partner in a new Genetic Research Hub in the east of England.
In total, the MRC is investing more than £7 million in the creation of three sequencing hubs in Scotland, the north of England and the east of England.
The initiative will provide researchers in the UK with access to cutting-edge resources for DNA sequencing.
A publically-funded organisation, the MRC is dedicated to improving human health and is supports research centres in the UK and Africa.
