A hospital in Norfolk is currently operating with a shortage of radiographers.
Patients at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are facing increased waiting times as a result of the situation.
According to consultant oncologist Tom Roques, there is a national shortage of radiographers and the medical centre is working hard to recruit and retain such medical experts.
Currently, the hospital has 34 radiographers and 13 vacancies.
Mr Roques said: "We have written to all patients currently waiting for treatment to explain the situation and will continue to endeavour to assign starting dates as quickly as possible."
The hospital, which is run by Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has offered jobs to six radiographers who are due to qualify this summer and it has taken on some agency staff in the interim.
Employing around 5,700 staff, the NHS trust treats more than 600,000 people each year in the Norfolk area.
