Podiatrist to dispense advice to elderly patients

A podiatrist is to be among a group of medical professionals dispensing advice to elderly people in a bid to reduce the risk of them falling over.
The initiative will see a team positioned at main entrance of Woolwich's Queen Elizabeth Hospital on June 23rd from 09:00 GMT until 13:00 GMT, This is Local London reports.
In addition to the podiatrist, there will be a specialist nurse, occupational therapists and physiotherapists on hand to give out information.
The Community Falls Team are jointly funded by Greenwich council and Greenwich Primary Care Trust, which is the second-largest employer in the area and currently has more than 750 health professionals in its service.
A spokesperson for the trust said: "Although people have specific and individual problems and needs around falls, there are also fairly common needs of people who fall."
These include such things as muscle strengthening exercises and balance training, as well as the provision of equipment and grab rails, foot care and medication reviews, he added.
