Plans for new medical centre submitted

Plans for the creation of a new medical centre in Hanley have been submitted.
The facility would cost £1.3 million and would consist of a walk-in centre for shoppers and office workers.
Among the services that would be provided at the facility are minor injuries treatment and lifestyle checks.
If the proposals are given the go-ahead, the former Yorkshire Bank on Stafford Street will be transformed into a new Health and Wellbeing Centre.
Commenting on the plans, Ian Gibson, clinical effectiveness and quality head at NHS Stoke-on-Trent, said: "Anyone will be able to use the practice and it will be especially useful for people with busy lifestyles who struggle to fit appointments into their day."
The application is being considered by the local council and, if it is approved, the centre could be open by the end of this year.
Recently, the East Anglian Daily Times reported that a new health facility is to open in Colchester offering a range of services, including phlebotomy.
