New X-ray equipment to be installed in training centre

A university is set to install new X-ray equipment in a bid to improve the training of radiographers.
The University of Cumbria is to provide the new devices in Carlisle and Lancaster.
Part of a £2 million scheme designed to teach trainee radiographers across the north-west of England, the equipment will enable people to undergo simulated training.
Phil Harris, head of the school of medical imaging sciences at the University of Cumbria, stated: "These facilities will provide our students with the very best equipment to use to develop their skills and set us apart from every other university on the country."
The equipment will benefit the local community, helping the Royal Lancaster Infirmary provide state-of-the-art services, he added.
Mr Harris went on to say that the services will be "better than the majority" of those found elsewhere in the UK.
The University of Cumbria was formed in 2007 and the result of an amalgamation of a number of institutions, including the Cumbria Institute of the Arts, the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire and St Martin's College.
