NHS trust told to improve hygiene standards

An NHS trust has been issued a warning concerning hygiene standards.
Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which provides services to around 460,000 people in Plymouth, East Cornwall and South West Devon, was told to improve the standards of cleanliness on five of its wards at Derriford Hospital, the BBC reports.
The organisation was one of eight across the UK to be marked out as particularly poor by the Care Quality Commission.
Responding to the warning, the trust's chief executive Paul Roberts said he was "disappointed", but added that the hospital was working to improve its hygiene standards.
He added: "I recognise that cleanliness is a public concern and we need to make sure that we give confidence to the people that use this hospital."
Mr Roberts went on to say that the "whole team" at Derriford Hospital was determined to deal with the hygiene problems discovered during the Care Quality Commission's visit.
