MRSA Action calls for greater effort in fight against infections

A campaigning group is calling for more concerted action in the fight against MRSA in UK hospitals.
On April 1st, members of MRSA Action will be in parliament seeking to get their message across to politicians.
The organisation's trip to the House of Commons will coincide with the establishment of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is due to come into being on that day.
According to MRSA Action, the CQC will play a vital role in helping medical centres achieve the goal of "no avoidable infections".
It said: "We believe that great strides have been made by many NHS trusts. However, there are still some that are not up to the job of shifting to a culture of 'patient first'."
The organisation is also to ask parliament to look beyond hospital wards to what happens when patients leave hospital to be looked after for at home and in care homes.
MRSA Action is a registered charity and is run by a group of volunteers.
