Sterile services facilities get revamp

The sterile services department at a UK hospital has undergone renovations, it has been revealed.
New state-of-the-art facilities have been fitted at Queen's Hospital in Burton as part of a £1.4 million pound project, Journalism.co.uk reports.
As well as the sterile services department, the catering unit has also been revamped under the terms of a contract with Burton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Staffordshire-based firm J&S Seddon Building carried out the work.
The company's Rodney Leake, who oversaw the project, said: "We had up to 30 operatives working on site and it was a challenge to get the work completed within 14 weeks."
He added that the organisation was pleased to meet the deadline as this minimised disruption to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the construction of a new medical facility in Ilminster may take place over the coming years, the Chard & Ilminster News reported.
Plans for the centre were recently discussed by members of the South Somerset district council's planning committee.
