Plans for new medical centre recommended

During a meeting last night (March 18th), plans for a medical centre in Somerset were recommended.
Medical chiefs want to build a new purpose-built facility in Ilminster, the Chard & Ilminster News reports.
The proposals, which have been put forward by Summervale Medical Centre and North Street Surgery, include the construction of a new pharmacy.
In attendance at the meeting were members of the South Somerset district council's planning committee.
According to the Somerset Primary Care Trust, which was established on October 1st 2006, the medical centre would result in better support and services for local people.
Ilminster town council has raised no objections to the overall scheme.
Earlier this month, plans for the construction of a new medical centre in Berrow received approval from Sedgemoor district councillors.
The facility, which will cost £2.5 million, is to house a range of services, including a pharmacy, a mental health area and a dental surgery, the Burnham & Highbridge Weekly News reported.
