Recently, health minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that the Care Environment Inspectorate is to be established.
The organisation will have an annual budget of £1 million and will focus on making sure that health centres are tackling infections such as MRSA and C difficile.
It will visit all hospitals at least once every three years and will be available to investigate concerns raised by members of the public.
Ms Sturgeon said: "It's crucial that we and more importantly the public, are assured that this work is delivering the high standards everyone expects.
"The Care Environment Inspectorate's stringent independent inspection regime will do just that."
She added that the organisation will be "rigorous", "thorough" and will leave no stone unturned.
Recently, Frome Community Hospital in Somerset had to close to inpatients due to an outbreak of Norovirus, the BBC reported.
