Two new robotic pharmacists have begun work at a UK hospital, it has been revealed.
Named Dot and Dash, the devices will store and dispense medicines to pharmacists at James Paget University Hospital, the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press reports.
They were recently unveiled by MP Bob Blizzard and form part of a £750,000 refurbishment of the medical centre's pharmacy department.
Chief pharmacist at the facility David Todd said the new technology "significantly improves" the efficiency and capacity of the department.
He added: "Dot and Dash put away medicines when they arrive, look after our stock control and retrieve stock when ordered by pharmacy staff."
The devices were given their names by local school children.
Situated in Great Yarmouth, the hospital is run by the James Paget Healthcare NHS Trust, which last year revealed it is to invest £5 million into a training and education centre as part of its quality improvement notice.
