An appeal has been launched to raise money for new cardiac equipment at Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
The Jellybean Kid's Appeal hopes to reach its target of £80,000 in 12 weeks in order to purchase a paediatric scanner for the medical centre, the Wirral News reports.
Set to run to the end of May, the initiative is being supported by Halliwells, Paver Smith, Wirral TV and Wirral CVS.
The scanner which organisers hope to be able to buy assesses cardiac function in newborn babies and children.
So far, 92 teams have got involved with fundraising ideas such as a sponsored raft race, bike ride and triathlon.
Jellybean Kid's Appeal fundraising manager Debbie Green said: "We're urging people to come up with quirky ideas to get involved."
Earlier this year, Royal Philips Electronics and Hansen Medical signed an agreement to co-develop new cardiac equipment which will simplify complex cardiac procedures that are used to diagnose and treat irregular heartbeats.
