Pharmacists of the future invited to attend event

Young people who intend to become pharmacists have been invited to attend an event in the north-east.
North Tyneside General Hospital is running an open evening tomorrow (February 26th).
The initiative is intended as a means of providing people with an insight into what careers in pharmacy entail.
It is also intended as a means of addressing a national shortage of pharmacists.
Commenting on the event, Dr Wasim Baqir, pre-registration manager at the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: "This is the first time we have opened the department to young people and students but we feel it will give anyone thinking about a career [in the industry], knowledge of what happens in a pharmacy in a busy general hospital."
He added that pharmacists play a "vital role" in the everyday running of hospitals.
Established in 2006, the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides services to more than half a million people across the areas of North Tyneside and Northumberland.
