Hospital fails to reach hygiene standards, report says

A medical watchdog has accused a hospital in Stanmore of failing to comply with hygiene standards.
The Harrow Times stated that a report by the Healthcare Commission has claimed the Brockley Hill-area facility has failed to maintain a "clean and appropriate environment" for patient care.
Medical equipment at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital had not been checked by managers to make sure proper decontamination procedures had been carried out, even though hospital wards were thought to be clean.
Further checks at the facility have been scheduled in three months' time to ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
The hygiene code was breached as a result of poor communication, the report determined.
Earlier this month, This Is Sussex reported that a surprise visit from the Healthcare Commission to the Queen Victoria Hospital revealed that there was room for hygiene to be improved in the facility's children's ward.
Shared soft toys were identified as a contamination risk.
