Event to be held to raise money for newborn hearing screening

An event is to take place in order to raise money for a UK charity.
The black tie evening, which will take place in Bulphan, Essex, is being organised by Joanne Kerly, the Essex Echo reports.
According to the publication, the 24-year-old police officer is aiming to raise money to give to the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS).
She made the decision to organise the event after her boyfriend's niece, Maddie, was born with profound hearing loss.
Ms Kerly said: "Maddie's hearing loss was detected through newborn hearing screening the charity had campaigned for. Because of that, Maddie's family got all the help they needed and they didn't have to go looking for it."
Founded in 1944, the NDCS aims to remove the barriers that exist for deaf children across the world.
It campaigns for a range of things, including for cochlear implants to be made available to all families who choose to have them.
