Phlebotomists offering extra blood tests

Phlebotomists in Great Wakering are to offer more blood tests, it has emerged.
The initiative is intended to cut down on long waiting times for such tests in the area, the Essex Echo reports.
Russ Platt, director of commissioning and contracting at NHS South East Essex, said: "We can confirm additional blood testing sessions will be offered at Great Wakering from March."
He added that the extra sessions should have a "significant impact" in the effort to reduce waiting times and will provide patients with greater choice.
Mr Platt also confirmed that the health trust plans to increase community blood testing services across south-east Essex over the next few months.
Established in October 2006, NHS South East Essex serves a population of around 342,500 across an area of 98 square miles.
It has an annual budget of £471 million and employs in the region of 950 members of staff.
