Occupational therapists to be involved in new scheme

A number of people with occupational therapy jobs are to be involved in a new scheme designed to help people with Asperger's syndrome.
People who suffer from the condition - which is one of the autistic spectrum disorders and can cause communication and emotional problems - are to be offered new services in Nottinghamshire.
According to reports in the Nottingham Evening Post, two teams are to be set up. One will be based at Highbury Hospital and another will be located in Chadburn House.
In addition to occupational therapists, the teams will have speech and language therapists, psychiatrists and social workers in them, among other medical professionals.
Jackie Dziewanowska, a specialist Asperger's nurse, said: "Most referrals will be through GPs or if they are already in mental health services they could be directly referred to us."
She added that the new services are "fantastic" and an "absolutely incredible development".
