Welsh pharmacists accredit to provide allergy screening service

A number of people with pharmacy jobs in Wales were recently accredited to provide an allergy testing service.
In total, seven such professionals were accredited by Allergy UK to provide the NPA-Allergy UK Allergy Screening Service in the country.
As such, they will be able to offer patients a consultation during which a full clinical history will be taken.
They will also be authorised to conduct so-called "pin-prick" tests to confirm initial diagnoses.
"We are delighted to have completed the accreditation process with pharmacists in Wales and that this very much needed service will now be available on the high street," stated Jules Payne, Allergy UK deputy chief executive.
She added that the service will be convenient for patients as the accredited pharmacists are located "in the heart" of local communities.
A national medical charity, Allergy UK exists to represent the views and needs of people with allergies, food intolerances and chemical sensitivities.
