Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Thursday 22nd January 2009
A new study has suggested that younger women are at an increased risk of heart attack from hormone replacement therapy (HRT), cardiac physiologists may be interested to hear.
Conducted by researchers at hospitals and universities in Copenhagen, Denmark, the investigation was published in the European Heart Journal, the Guardian reports.
The team found that, overall, HRT did not have much effect on women's chances of having a cardiac arrest.
However, it was also found that some types of HRT seem to be safer than others and younger women were at a greater risk of heart attack compared with younger women who did not take HRT.
In other industry news, Royal Philips Electronics and Hansen Medical recently came to an agreement.
The deal is intended to lead to the creation of technology which will simplify complex cardiac procedures that are used to diagnose and treat irregular heartbeats commonly referred to as arrhythmias.
