Podiatrists to be involved in footcare initiative

People with podiatry jobs are to be involved in a footcare initiative, it has been revealed.
East Riding of Yorkshire council, together with NHS East Riding of Yorkshire - which was created on October 1st 2008 - and independent sector domiciliary providers is to run sessions for people living in the Goole and Bridlington areas who do not currently receive any health-related footcare service.
In total, five afternoon events are to be held in March where adults will be assessed by a podiatrist.
As a special offer, there will be no charge for those who receive a basic footcare service.
Neil Griffiths from NHS East Riding of Yorkshire said: "We are delighted to be working with the local authority and domiciliiary care providers to develop a basic footcare service - initially for the Goole and Bridlington areas."
He added that "fit feet" help to reduce the incidence of falls and can lead to significant improvements in the quality of life experienced by older people or those with a disability.
