New biomedical science agreement signed

A deal has been signed by two parties which is intended to lead to the advancement of research in the field of biomedical science.
The comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation Trust and King's College London has entered into an agreement with BD Biosciences.
Under the terms of the arrangement, experts will collaborate to discover more about the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a range of conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease, blood poisoning and severe skin diseases.
Professor Graham Lord, director of translational research development and deputy director of the BRC, said: "This is very exciting for our patients as it will allow us to determine who might respond to treatment, as well as to also avoid unnecessary side effects, as we begin to tailor treatment to individual patients."
The BRC, along with its academic partner King's College London, aims to further biomedical research. It receives funding of around £10 million a year.
