Hospital installs new scanner equipment for cardiac workers

People with jobs in the cardiac department of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital now have access to a new piece of equipment, it has been revealed.
The medical centre, which serves people living in Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster as well as parts of Putney, Fulham, Wandsworth and Battersea, has installed a Somatom Definition AS+ CT scanner.
In combination with the Siemens Somatom Definition AS model, the device is said to allow increased staffing efficiency, while also giving a greater degree of scanning flexibility, Healthcare Equipment and Supplies reports.
Dr Roger Chinn, director of radiology at the hospital, said: "With the AS available for general work on a day-to-day basis, the AS+ is ready for emergencies, meaning a stroke patient can be the next case on the table."
He added that the new equipment will enable Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to enhance the reputation of its stroke services through high standards of care.
