Refer an Cardiac Physiologist
Friday 16th January 2009
Two firms have come to an agreement to co-develop new cardiac equipment, it has emerged.
The deal between Royal Philips Electronics and Hansen Medical is set to lead to the creation of technology which will simplify complex cardiac procedures that are used to diagnose and treat irregular heartbeats referred to as arrhythmias.
People with arrhythmia experience varied symptoms and more pronounced cases can result in dizziness and blackouts.
The agreement signed by the two companies will enable the creation of integrated product solutions through the combining of Philips' Allura Xper X-Ray system with Hansen Medical's Sensei Robotic Catheter System.
Gary Restani, president and chief operating officer of Hansen Medical, said: "We believe that combining our efforts will allow us to provide enhanced value and improved capabilities to our customers."
He added that the alliance is targeted at developing solutions that impact on both virtualisation and instinctive driving within 3D anatomical models.
