Speech therapist forced to wait to start work

A speech therapist is currently unable to start her job as a result of delays concerning her police check.
According to a recent report in the Epping Forest Guardian, Michelle Miles got a job at Evelina Children's Hospital at St Thomas's in Westminster - which is run by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust - in August.
The medical expert claimed that she sent her Criminal Record Bureau form off in September but has still not received her certificate.
Ms Miles described the situation as "ridiculous" and said she has been forced to secure other work and use her savings to make ends meet over recent weeks.
She added: "I am all for checks to safeguard children but I'm extremely frustrated by the length of time this has taken."
Ms Miles went on to say that the hospital is having to use a temporary worker to fill her place while she waits for the form to come through.
